Opening Keynote Speaker - Dr. Colin Higgs September 25, 2012
Dr. Colin Higgs has more than 40 years experience in the field of sport and physical education, and during that time has worked as an educator, administrator, official and coach. He is best known for his work with Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) movement, and for his work with athletes with a disability. As a member of Canada’s LTAD Expert Group he is working with many of Canada‘s National Sport Organizations to redesign their sport programs for enhanced excellence and greater participation. He has worked in more than 40 countries on sport development and social development through sport issues, and has presented at many major international conferences around the world.
Educated in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, Dr. Higgs recently retired from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, where he was a professor of sport and physical education. He now runs and international consulting company working on youth development through sport programs in the Caribbean, Central and South America and in Sub-Sahara Aftica.

Catherine Matheson is General Manager of the City of Greater Sudbury Community Development Department, responsible for library, citizen, leisure, housing, social, children’s and long-term care services. Catherine will be speaking about the City of Greater Sudbury Healthy Community Initiative.
One of the most notable accomplishments resulting from the development of the Healthy Community Initiative was Greater Sudbury’s designation as a Regional Centre of Expertise in 2006 by the United Nations University. This unique privilege validated and supported the Healthy Community Strategy which has been formally in place for the past 8 years and informally in place for the past 20 years. The initiative lends itself to both world-wide learning, network of like-minded individuals, organizations, and cities and is representative of efforts that contribute toward improving both human health and community sustainability.

Thursday Keynote Speaker - Mark Kelley September 27, 2012
Mark Kelley is the host of Connect, CBC News Network’s award-winning nightly news program that highlights the personal stories behind the day’s headlines. While Connect is still a newcomer on the network, Kelley has been a familar face on the TV dial for more than 20 years.
As the face of Connect, Kelley won a Gemini award in 2011 for Best Host or Interviewer in a News Information Program. He has won four other Geminis for his work with CBC News:Disclosure, The National, CBC News: Morning and CBC's Beijing Olympic broadcast.
Kelley is a proud father of four boys. He and his cherished family live in Toronto.
