A number of exciting educational sessions have been planned for this year's conference.  Session topics will cover the areas of aquatics, volunteerism, youth services, older adults, planning & recreation, sustainable mobility and much more.

All sessions will be held in Georgian Rooms A, B, or C at the Holiday Inn Sudbury on Tuesday and Wednesday.



Evening Facility Tour - James Jerome Sports Complex & Grace Hartman Amphitheatre

Delegates will have the opportunity to visit two recently redeveloped facillities, the James Jerome Sports Complex and the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.  At the James Jerome Sports Complex, Dol Turf will present the dramatic changes the facility went through including the addition of artificial turf.  We'll also have the opportunity to try out the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. 

A BBQ and concert will follow at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.  The renewed amphitheatre features fixed seating for 561 people and grass seating for an additional 1,400. Other features include a new sound and lighting system, larger covered stage and new change rooms and washrooms.

As part of this year's Educational Forum and Trade Show we are pleased to provide to free evening sessions to the general public.  Dr. Colin Higgs will provide a presentation on Physical Literacy and there will be a session on the New Corporations Act to be presented in partnership with United Way Sudbury.

Rockin' Jocks Social - Holiday Inn Sudbury

Show your support for your favourite sports team and put on your jersey, sweater or uniform and show off your sporting skills!  We have a number of activities lined up to see how athletic (and fun) recreation people truly are!

The Rockin' Jocks Social will take place in the Holiday Inn Sudbury Solarium following the NeORA Banquet and Awards.  There will be a cash bar until midnight.






Volunteerism in Northeastern Ontario - Dynamic Earth

Join us Thursday morning at Dynamic Earth as we focus on volunteerism in Northeastern Ontario.  Mark Kelley, the host of Connect, CBC News Network’s award-winning nightly news program, will be the opening keynote speaker.  Volunteer Sudbury will share how they have established their organization to become the central hub for voluntary action, promotion and education in Greater Sudbury.  Other volunteer organizations will be featured and discuss volunteer trends, challenges and opportunities.

Buses will depart from the Holiday Inn Sudbury at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Didn't have an opportunity to see enough of Greater Sudbury?  Jump on our 'Green Limousine' and take a tour to see some of the significant upgrades the City of Greater Sudbury has made in recreation facilities.  Tour will include stops at the new twin-pad at Countryside Arena, the redeveloped Laurentian Community Track and Minnow Lake Place, a great example of how a former elementary school has been converted to a dynamic community space.

The tour will depart from Holiday Inn Sudbury at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27th.  There is a nominal fee of $25 for the tour.  A minimum of 12 registrations are required.
